How To: Configure Course Access

Course access can be configured in a variety of ways depending on who you would like to be able to access specific courseware. Courses are set to universal access as default (meaning all learners can access the published content), but this can be changed to ‘assigned to user groups’ or toggled back to universal access if required. In this post, we explain how to assign courseware to specific groups of learners.

Ensuring courseware is available to all of your users

Navigate to the Course pane. Select the course you would like to assign universal access to. Select Access Rules. Tick ‘Universal Access’ if you would like this course to be available to all of your users.

Assigning courseware to a specific user group

You can assign courseware to a user group in two ways. The first is through the Access Rules pane as above. Uncheck Universal Access and select which user groups you would like the content assigned to. They will appear in the Selected Groups section. Be sure to save any changes.

You can also assign courseware to user groups from the User Group profile. Navigate to the User pane and select User Groups. Select the user group you would like to assign courseware to. Scroll down to the Courses section on this page and select which courses you would like to assign to this user group. These courses will appear in the Selected courses section. Be sure to save any changes.
