GIG ECONOMY | HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS Are Your Gears Safe and Certified?
The answer is YES. You can attach a camera to your helmet as long as it does not block your view and the camera is manufactured for that purpose.
Check the manufacturer's instructions on how to safely attach a camera to your headgear.
You cannot drill holes and use screws or use epoxy to fit a camera or any aftermarket device on your helmet.
Body Protection A full gear will not be complete without protecting the rest of your body. Body Protection includes PPEs and Body Safety Gears.

GIG ECONOMY | HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS Using Mobile Devices While on the Road
Phone calls
Navigation
Music or Audio
When is it illegal to use your phones while driving? You will incur demerits, fines or penalties if… You have a learner or provisional license You are holding a phone anytime you are on the road, whether on the move or waiting in traffic, intersection, or traffic light. You are reading, making or sending a text/email. You are web browsing, using social media, playing games or taking photos.
“Hands-free isn’t risk-free” ~NZ Transport Agency Despite having modern technology that allows us to make and receive calls without having to hold our phones, talking while driving still divides our attention, especially when we have long and complex conversations.
**It’s still best practice to not use your phone at all when you are driving. ** If it’s inevitable, keep your conversations brief or return the calls when you’re not on the move. This way, you can avoid getting distracted while driving.
What other best practices can we adapt?
Keep your phone calls brief to avoid getting distracted.
If the call is urgent, pull over and return the calls when you are safely parked.
Plan ahead and communicate with customers or support when you're not on the move.
Avoid complex or emotional conversations over the phone.
Set your phone or use an app that prevents distractions like incoming calls and non-work-related notifications while driving.
Never take your eyes off the road for more than 2 seconds. Doing so increases the risk of a crash.

GIG ECONOMY | HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS Gig Platform Duties & Responsibilities
How Can We Manage Health & Safety Risks The gig platform should provide the following to reduce or eliminate the risks: Health and Safety Information and Trainings Safe Work Systems Personal Protective Equipment Let's look a closer look at each of these control measures.
Onboarding Training Onboarding training is very important for getting to know the work, the app, and the daily tasks. This training provides basic information on health and safety as well.
Fatigue Management Training Since fatigue is one of the common causes of accidents, all workers dispatched on the road should be trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of over fatigue and its effects. S
Road Safety Training Gig workers should abide by local and state laws for road use. This training commonly covers unsafe practices to avoid, traffic rules and regulations, use of safety gear etc.
Manual Handling Training You will be handling different types of loads as a gig worker and improper ones can cause injuries to your musculoskeletal system. Training in manual handling will prevent these types of injuries.
Safe Work System Aside from training, the platform also provides control measures to ensure that work is done in a safe manner.
Fatigue Management As rider fatigue is a major issue, the platform should set regular reminders to encourage taking breaks and avoid overworking. This can be done using the app or through other notification systems.
Better, Safer App and Booking process Part of safe work systems is improving the app and work processes in a way that reduces distractions or time pressure. Riders have limited access to their phone and reducing interaction with the app will make them more focused on driving and the road.
Safer Work Hours Gig work can be flexible but you can also get intermittent work or long shifts. The platform app should be designed to prevent excessive work hours.
