It will teach you how to explain first-aid concepts and life-saving techniques properly. Practical training skills like conducting scenario practices, organizing group training, and performing skill demonstrations are also included in the course. There are even tips on how to deal with difficult learners, aimed at making you an effective teacher.

There’s a written and performance evaluation at the end of this course. Keep in mind that a score of 76% is needed to pass the written exam while the performance evaluation must be coordinated with ASHI.

5. Safety in the Workplace

For example, there’s a great lesson on slips, trips, and falls, which are the most common accidents to happen in the workplace. It will take you through a definition of first aid by showing you an outline of the important steps. Although the course will tackle different medical conditions and injuries, you’ll also be taught primarily about choking as it’s the most common incident that can occur. 

The course is short and straight to the point. It only runs from 1-3 hours and can be taken at your own pace. An Alison training certificate as proof of learning is available for a fee if you’re interested.

8. CPR, AED & First Aid

Skillshare provides an extensive class on first aid and emergency medical services (EMS). CPR, AED & First Aid is a video-based CPR instructor course designed to empower people to save lives through life support training. It’s taught by a National Healthcare Provider with short topical lessons that dive deep into the necessary skills for emergency situations.

The topics range from the kinds of first aid to the various types of illnesses and injuries that lead to life-or-death situations. At the end of the course, there are focused skills lessons like adult and infant CPR and AED. The lessons take less than 5 minutes so this is great for a busy schedule. Do take note that these are video-based lessons and are different from microlearning.

10. First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Basic Level

Learn first aid basics directly from the Red Cross, a leading humanitarian organization focused on volunteerism and relief. This course includes essential skills for emergency life-or-death situations and equipment knowledge (like AED use). It aims to widen your knowledge of first aid procedures through online content and skills assessment.

You will need to have pre-existing knowledge of first aid, CPR, and AED as well as a certificate to join the course. As a CPR instructor course, it does lack interactive elements which may prove to be less effective than the other courses we’ve listed.
